Libby Gardner

Libby was working for Piper Aircraft when she heard that employees were eligible for inexpensive flying lessons. She soloed on September 10, 1942 and sent her application into the WASP to help ferry military aircraft. She became one of an elite group of eleven women who were qualified to fly the temperamental B-26 bomber, known as the "widow maker". We felt that Libby's confident gaze epitomized the courage demonstrated by women pilots during WWII, but she is much more modest about her flying: "We just wanted to fly and it was an opportunity to pilot the very best planes that existed."

This design prints on a white 100% cotton t-shirt.
